Popular t-shirt uses in Tanzania:

  • NGO field staff — branded uniforms for outreach, health campaigns, training events.
  • Election & political — candidate name shirts, party colours, rally branding.
  • Events & conferences — staff identification, attendee giveaways, sponsor branding.
  • Sports teams — football clubs, school athletics, marathon teams, tournament merchandise.
  • Corporate uniforms — bank field teams, telecom roadshows, sales reps.
  • Schools & universities — sports days, class shirts, graduation events.
  • Mining & construction — high-vis shirts, contractor crews, site identification.
  • Music & culture — festival merch, artist branding, church choir robes.

Choosing Your Print Method

The biggest decision when printing t-shirts isn't the shirt — it's the print method. Each method has different economics, durability and design constraints. Here's how to choose:

Screen Printing (Best for 20+ Shirts, 1-3 Colours)

The Tanzania workhorse for bulk t-shirt orders. Ink is pushed through a mesh screen onto the fabric — vibrant, thick, durable. Each colour needs a separate screen (= setup cost), so it's best for designs with 1-3 solid colours and bulk runs. Survives endless washes without fading. Best for: bulk campaign shirts, NGO uniforms, sports team kits, event giveaways. Not ideal for: photo-realistic designs, runs under 20 shirts, or complex multi-colour gradients.

DTG — Direct-to-Garment (Best for Full-Colour, Small Runs)

Like an inkjet printer for fabric — sprays ink directly onto the shirt. Handles any number of colours, perfect for photo-realistic designs, intricate artwork, and small runs (even 1 shirt). Slightly less durable than screen for heavy washing, but quality is unmatched for detailed art. Works only on cotton. Best for: artist merch, photo designs, complex multi-colour logos, small orders.

Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) — Best for Names & Numbers

Vinyl is cut into letters or shapes and heat-pressed onto the shirt. Solid, vibrant colour, very durable. Great for personalisation — football jerseys with player names and numbers, name tags on uniforms, simple bold logos. Each shirt can have different names/numbers without extra setup. Best for: sports jerseys with names/numbers, personalised uniforms, simple block logos.

Sublimation (Best for All-Over Polyester Prints)

Ink is heat-converted into gas and bonds with polyester fibres — the print literally becomes part of the fabric. Result: no texture, full-colour vibrancy, never cracks or fades. Works only on polyester, including sports Dri-Fit shirts. Best for: sports jerseys, performance shirts, all-over print designs, large-area prints.

Fabric Guide

  • 100% Cotton (Standard) — soft, breathable, Tanzania's favourite. Works with screen, DTG and HTV.
  • Cotton/Polyester Blend — budget option. Less shrink, slightly stiffer. Best for tight budgets.
  • Heavyweight Cotton (220gsm) — thicker, more premium feel. Lasts longer in tough environments — mining, corporate uniforms.
  • 100% Polyester (Dri-Fit) — sports performance — wicks sweat, dries fast. Required for sublimation printing.
  • Organic Cotton — premium eco-friendly choice. For NGOs and brands with sustainability messaging.

Number of Colours Matters (for Screen Printing)

For screen printing, each colour in your design needs its own screen — meaning each additional colour adds setup cost and per-shirt cost. Stick to 1-2 colours for the best price; 3 colours is fine for bigger orders. For more complex designs, go DTG or sublimation instead.

Not sure which method suits your design and quantity? Chat to us on WhatsApp — send us your artwork and tell us how many shirts you need, we'll recommend the right method.

How to Order Custom T-Shirts

There are 3 easy ways to order custom t-shirts from Magno Tanzania:

1. Upload Your Design

Upload your file in the calculator. Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) are best for screen printing — sharp at any size. For DTG and sublimation, high-resolution PNG/JPG works fine (300 DPI minimum).

2. Let Us Design

Toggle "Design Assistance" and send us your logo, event name/theme, colours, and any photos. We'll create a t-shirt design optimised for your print method and send a digital mockup for approval.

3. Bulk Quote via WhatsApp

Ordering 100+ shirts for an event, NGO project or campaign? Hit "Order via WhatsApp" — we offer bulk pricing, fast turnaround, mixed sizes, and on-site delivery to your venue.

Information we'll need:

  • Shirt colour — black, white, navy, red, yellow, etc. (most TZ-standard colours in stock).
  • Size breakdown — how many of each size (XS-5XL). 2XL+ adds TSh 2,000/shirt.
  • Design file — vector for screen printing, high-res image for DTG/sublimation.
  • Print colour vs shirt colour — dark shirts need white underbase (small extra cost).
  • Deadline — when do you need the shirts delivered?

T-shirt design tips:

  • Keep print area under 30×40cm for front prints — bigger designs distort on smaller shirts.
  • Use bold colours that contrast with the shirt — yellow on black, white on red.
  • For text, use a minimum 18pt font size — anything smaller is hard to read.
  • Avoid super-thin lines (less than 2mm) — screen printing struggles with fine detail.
  • For events, add a year or theme — makes shirts memorable & re-wearable.

Delivery & Production

When will I receive my shirts?

Standard t-shirt orders are produced and dispatched within 5-7 working days of artwork approval. T-shirts take longer than paper because of the multi-step process: design approval, screen setup (for screen printing), printing, curing, quality check, and packing. Express options available for urgent events.

Delivery within Tanzania

We ship t-shirt bundles via trusted courier partners. Folded and bagged neatly for transport. Typical timing:

  • Geita (our base) — same-day or next-day pickup/delivery.
  • Mwanza, Shinyanga, Kahama — 1-2 working days.
  • Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Dodoma, Mbeya — 2-3 working days.
  • Other regions — 3-5 working days.

Event delivery

Got an event coming up? For large orders (100+ shirts), we can arrange direct delivery to your event venue — Sabasaba grounds, Mlimani City, the church compound, or wherever you're hosting. Just confirm the delivery address and we'll coordinate.

Tip for events: Place your t-shirt order at least 10 working days before the event date. Screen-printed shirts take longer due to setup and curing. We keep your design on file for reorders — re-printing additional shirts in matching colours is fast and cheap.
